Sydney Light Rail Upgrade
The Sydney Light Rail incorporates a 12 km route integrating major interchanges with other transport modes. Architecture & Access was engaged by Laing O’Rourke to project manage two projects to enable the upgrade of Light Rail infrastructure between Central and Lilyfield, covering fourteen stops including the accessible paths of travel to the platforms. The projects required access audits, site investigations, Safety in Design review and risk assessment. The scope of works covered the customised design and placement of individual platform shelters, furniture, fittings; the design of ramp upgrades and lift access including handrails, curbrails and TGSIs; and wayfinding signage. All work delivered compliance with the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (2002).
