New steps, designed and delivered by Architecture & Access home modification team, have freed Steven to come and go on foot as he pleases.
Steven felt like a prisoner in his own home for over three years, only able to navigate the steep driveway when his partner was available to drive him up and down in the car.
“The old driveway was too difficult and risky for me – really tough on the knees on the way down!” says Steven. “Now I’m out and about using the steps at least 6 times a day, even if it’s just for a short walk up the street.”
The Architecture & Access project manager handled all aspects of the design and construction of the new entrance steps, covering a rise of 2.7 metres over 11.8 metres.
Steven praised the great work and communication skills of the team, which included an access consultant and designer from Architecture & Access, and builder Victor Tutic.
“I’m what you would call a satisfied customer,” he says with a smile.
